Bachelor’s in Guitar

Study Objectives

By the end of a bachelor’s degree in Guitar, students should have developed an understanding of the historic techniques and particular skills that will allow them to realise their personal artistic vision and ambitions. To this end particular emphasis is placed on the study of the repertoire most typical of the instrument – including ensemble music – and of the associated techniques and practices, with the aim in mind of developing the student’s ability to play in a wide range of musical ensembles. These objectives should be achieved with a focus on developing the student’s aural and memorisation skills and on obtaining the knowledge specific to the organisation, composition and analysis of music and the relationship between these aspects. Particular care should be given to the development of good control of posture and emotional expression.  At the end of a bachelor’s students must have acquired a thorough understanding of the stylistic, historical and aesthetic aspects of guitar music both in general and relative to their particular field of interest. Also, acknowledging the specific nature of the individual courses, the student must have gained adequate abilities in improvisation and ornamentation.  Further study objectives of the course include the attainment of sufficient skills in musical ICT as well as the study of a second language.
